I don’t really have a problem with the way Dylan handled the situation. After all, he’s still a teenager so even if that wasn’t the most mature response, I can totally see a teenager doing that kind of thing.
The weird one here is Sophia who see all that and think that was the appropriate response in this situation, doesn’t matter that the guys were drunk, more annoying than threatening, that the guy Dylan knocked out face planted and could have sustained serious injuries to his face...
Apparently, he’s now a “man” in Sophia eyes...
Who knows, maybe next time, a group of 6 years old will make fun of Sophia haircut and Dylan will roundhouse kick their face, which will make Sophia wet while thinking what a man he has become

.
Joking aside, I think that there was other way that the “ defending someone honor ” could have been portrayed that would put a better light on Dylan (for those who have a problem with his actions in this event) and Sophia (for her reaction to Dylan actions) while still staying true to their characters.
Which can’t be really said with how the “homeless charity shelter event" or whatever it’s called was introduced.
The way Dylan talk to his mom in that scene is so ridiculous that’s it’s almost comical :
Sophia: This guys are so annoying...
Dylan: Maybe you should put yourself in their shoes you entitled homelessphobic woman.
S : Huh?!
D : You know what, you should hangout with them so maybe you will learn some humility, you intolerant bitch...!
S : Wha...
D : Didn’t you said you wanted to do that kind of thing before ? Well it’s time to prove you’re not all talk.!
S : It’s true but...
D : You should follow m’y advice.
You know what ? Where are the papers, I sign you right now !
